Description

  • Cradle-shaped tombstone, dated to the late 17th century (1696), belonging to Kirakos, son of Shahnazar (ԴՀՎ, Vol. 4, No. 958).
  • Front Side: A dynamic hunting scene is depicted. A figure dressed in pleated attire is shown with a rifle, aiming at a small wild goat and a deer. Below the hunter, a cup-bearer (matrvak) is carved holding a wine jug by the handle in one hand, with a goblet nearby. The scene is enriched by two musicians playing string instruments, all gathered around a banquet table filled with food. Notably, the headgear worn by all figures suggests cultural and emotional ties to the fashion or identity of the era.
The entire composition is framed by a braided ornamental border, emphasizing unity and structure.
  • Back Side: Under three arches, there are cross motifs, all framed by inscriptions, merging Christian symbolism with personal memory.
  • Side Panels: Unadorned, with no carvings.
  • Top Section: Shaped like a large concave cushion, with several indentations, likely used for placing reed or incense offerings, reflecting ritual practices tied to remembrance and sanctity.
