Description
- Late 17th century (1691) cradle-shaped tombstone, large in size. Belongs to Sarukhan, son of Elchipek; Avanes erected the holy intercessory cross (Armenian Lapidary, Pr. 4, № 928 inscription).
Front side. The deceased is shown as a mounted hunter, armed and pursuing an ibex and a deer. Below the animals is a figure holding a qanun, and another playing the saz. In the upper zone of the scene are carved a kamancha, a daf, a plate, a jar, and a wine goblet. The inscription frames the composition.
Back side. Under four arches are similar cross motifs, decorated below with palm branches. From the center of each cross rise two additional shoots. The composition is enclosed within a finely carved ornamental band.
Lateral and upper sides. Empty.
