Description

Cradle-shaped tombstone, quite large in size, late 15th century (1482). Belongs to Stepanos (Armenian Lapidary, Pr. 4, № 903 inscription).

Front side. According to S. Barkhudaryan’s description, the scene depicts a tailor (joni), with professional tools placed before him: shears, a hooked tool for trimming, and a cap mold. The deceased is presented in an unusual way, seemingly kneeling with feet extended backward, holding a jar in one hand and a plate in the other. The head of the deceased breaks out of the frame, interrupting the inscription carved in the upper band.

Back side. On the northern face the entire surface is empty, except for a structure with a triangular top that encloses the symbol of eternity. Similar images are also found on several tombstones in Noratus.

Lateral sides. Under a deep arch is a cross with trefoil lobes. Below are two simple linear crosses.

Upper side. Damaged, with visible traces of holes.
