Description

Front side. Depicted is the mounted deceased, shown with a three-lily crown and expressive facial features, raising his sword to strike a deer. The deer stands out for its realistic rendering and large scale, with the antlers worked in particular detail. Below the deer is another, smaller figure holding a wine jar, and above the jar a bowl is also depicted. The scene is framed with a plaited-rope band.

Back side. Under three niche-shaped arches are cross motifs. In carving the third arch, the master took into account the rounded form of the stone’s upper part, carefully reducing the size of the last arch. The framing band likewise curves in that section to conform to the overall shape.

Lateral sides. One side preserves an inscription, though it is difficult to read, while the other bears a simple linear cross.

Upper side. With a convex form, one edge rounded.
