Description

15th century (1478) cradle-shaped tombstone belonging to Amir (Armenian Lapidary, Pr. 4, № 1524).

Front side. On the southern carved surface is depicted the mounted deceased, whose head extends beyond the upper frame. A servant holds the horse’s bridle with one hand and an elongated-necked jar with the other. Integral to the scene are also the images of a bowl and a table laden with food. In the upper zone the master placed a three-line inscription.

Back side. Under arches supported by three massive columns are cross motifs.

Lateral sides. Both sides bear cross motifs, one of which is considerably worn.

Upper side. Concave, with a small break on one section.
